Frequently Asked Questions about GCSE and A-Level Computer Science
We always try to ensure that lessons run smoothly. We have random quality checks in place to ensure the tutor is following our e-learning platform and engaging with the students. We give access to our e-learning platform before the lessons start to ensure that the student is able to log on and access the course. On our e-learning there are multiple past papers for GCSE and A-Level for students to utilise.
When studying Computer Science, we offer a block of revision sessions closer to the final exam that students can opt in for. In addition, mock paper 1 and mock paper 2 for GCSE will be held in the final year of the exam which students can opt in for. These are at an additional cost that is in our pricing above. Please note, if students are sitting their exam at School of Coding, the revision sessions and mock papers are compulsory.
Completing these mock papers and block of revision sessions will allow the tutor to gain insight on any gaps in the students knowledge which will be revisited in lesson time.
Studying GCSE and A-Level simultaneously can be very intense. We don’t recommend studying both at the same time as the workload may be too much and GCSE know content ledge may have to be covered before A-Level content. We would suggest covering GCSE first then moving onto A-Level.
As a coding company, we mainly focus on teaching Computer Science. However, we do have tutors that are qualified to teach GCSE English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. As well as A-Level English, Maths, Economics, Chemistry and Biology.
We are currently an OCR accredited exam center. When creating groups for GCSE and A-Level, we do not separate by exam board. We will teach OCR syllabus and teach the extra two modules that are covered in the AQA syllabus at the end of the course if needed. Students are still able to sit revision sessions and mock papers with us regardless of syllabus. However, currently we are only able to accept OCR students to take the exam at our center.
You can enquire on our form below or contact us on 01902 509 209 to speak to one of our team who can book a FREE 30 minute trial lesson in with one of our specialist tutors.
All our tutors are fully vetted and all have an up-to-date enhanced DBS check. Students can participate in lessons without adult supervision; however, it is possible for you to sit in on a lesson every so often to see how your child is doing. Our tutors will always have their webcams and microphones switched on, making them accessible and understandable.
Group lessons run for 1 hour once a week for GCSE and 2 hours a week for A-Level. 1-2-1 tuition is the same but additional lessons can be requested.
