We, the School of Coding & AI, the UK’s largest coding and computer science educator for children and adults, are thrilled to announce our success in securing funds through a bid to Shropshire Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Funds. Our Project ‘Digital Shropshire’ is looking to support over 500 Shropshire residents over the next two years in Digital and Communication Skills for Life.
Digital Shropshire is designed to provide every individual over 16 living in Shropshire with the chance to enhance their digital skills. Whether this is to learn how to get safely online, get ready for employment, general upskilling, or needing help with digital inclusion and accessing healthcare and other essential services online.
Equipping Shropshire for the Digital Era
Our aim is to empower Shropshire residents not just to survive but to thrive in the digital age. Clare Norton, our Operations Manager, expresses her enthusiasm: “These courses are accessible to everyone in Shropshire, regardless of your current education or employment status. If you’re 16 or older and reside in the Shropshire Council area, consider this an open invitation to enhance your skills with us!”
Two Courses, Infinite Opportunities
Let’s delve into specifics. We’re introducing two outstanding courses: Essential Digital Skills & Communication and Life Skills. These weekly sessions will be conducted in key towns such as Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, and Market Drayton. An exciting bonus awaits – completion of both courses earns you a £25 gift voucher!
When are These Available?
Mark your calendars! Classes commence on November 6th and extend until Christmas with flexible dates over each week. We promise an engaging learning experience, flexibility for extended learning, and, upon completion, accredited certificates to showcase your newfound skills.
Why It Matters to Shropshire
Councillor Mark Jones from Shropshire Council underscores the significance of our initiative: “Thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we’re offering vital support and training in essential life and work skills for Shropshire residents.”
Join the Movement
This project isn’t just about us – This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda. With £2.6 billion allocated for local investment by March 2025, the fund aims to improve pride in place, increase life chances across the UK, and invest in communities, supporting local businesses, people, and skills.
